- CPR-C or equivalent certificate which must include CPR for infant, children, and adults as well as AED training
- Copy of your current Class 1, 2, or 4 driver’s license or out of province equivalent
- Please note that the Driver applicants will not be considered without the required drivers license classification
- Copy of your driver's abstract (issued by ICBC or issuing province)
- ICBC abstracts can be requested

- Proof of grade 12 graduation or post-secondary education completion
- Ability to provide minimum availability of 8 day and/or night shifts per month
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to verbally communicate directly with patients, paramedic partners, and other allied health professionals
- Work is available throughout B.C. – you can relocate to different regions to experience different lifestyles
- Provide patient care in pre-hospital emergency situations and transport by ambulance

Working as a Driver Only, every shift is guaranteed to be different. Your main priority will be providing safe transport for your paramedic partner and patient in the ambulance during pre-hospital emergency calls.
As a Driver Only, you will have limited patient contact but will ensure that patients and your paramedic partner receive safe and timely ambulance transportation. Driver Only roles can be used in rural and remote areas, and sometimes urban areas depending on operational need. However,l large metro cities cannot use Driver Only qualified employees.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Be responsible for the safe operation of ambulances
- Always use critical thinking and safe work practices
- Assist your paramedic partner as requested
- Assist with carrying equipment to and from calls
- Assist with CPR as requested by your paramedic partner
It is a condition of your employment that an Emergency Medical Responder license, issued through the Emergency Medical Assistance Licensing Board be obtained within six months of your hire.
