Licences and certificates

To work as a critical care paramedic (CCP) with BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS), you must meet the following requirements:​

  • Hold a valid critical care paramedic licence from the Emergency Medical Licensing Board
  • Have a class 4 BC driver's licence (or an equivalent from another province), or be able to get one within 6 months of starting
  • Be at least 19 years old
  • Be legally allowed to work in Canada
  • Be available to work different shifts, as needed
  • Be medically fit and able to pass a criminal record check
  • Have experience handling high-acuity calls in a busy environment
  • Show strong leadership skills
  • Work well with others and be recognized as a team player by ​health care professionals
