BCEHS promotes research to better inform the organization of best practice and policy in pre-hospital care.
All BCEHS-affiliated out-of-hospital research projects must undergo a number of review processes. This ensures that all research meets rigorous standards for ethics, accountability and operational compliance.
Each research study is unique, so it is best to begin work in conjunction with the BCEHS research lead, who chairs the BCEHS Research Evaluation Committee. The committee meets regularly and is responsible to approve project requests, or to recommend projects for senior leadership review.
The committee requires that the following documents be submitted prior to consideration for support by the committee and eventual access to BCEHS data:
Reviews can take six weeks or longer. Reviews vary depending on the timing of monthly meetings, the thoroughness of the initial application, and the extent of the potential risk and impact to BCEHS.
Please note: BCEHS requests that you share completed research projects and outcomes with us whenever BCEHS data is used, and if the results are to be published, that BCEHS participate in the authorship and be named as such.
