In Chilliwack, more than 170 people including staff from Agassiz, Hope, and Boston Bar and members of allied agencies from the Upper Fraser Valley area, attended a holiday celebration hosted by Station 206. Pancakes along with a 50th Anniversary cake were served at the family friendly event.
In Logan Lake, staff from Station 319 and BCEHS’s Talent Acquisition Team took part in a holiday skate and handed out more than 200 hot dogs along with hot chocolate and marshmallows. Earlier in the month, staff from Station 308 joined residents and merchants for a Christmas tree lighting event in Clinton, providing hot dogs and cake to the community.
So far, more than 50 stations across the province and some of our BCEHS office locations have hosted 50th anniversary parties, and there are many more to come as we head into 2025 and the second half of our anniversary year.
From community barbeques to formal dinners, station celebrations have featured historical artifacts and an amazing array of creative cakes commemorating the dedication and work of BCEHS paramedics, dispatchers, emergency call takers and support staff.
In 1974, the government of the day brought together a provincial ambulance service out of a wide range of small local services. We are proud of how far our service has come in the last 50 years and how BCEHS continues to provide incredible care to patients and communities across our province.
Our 50th Anniversary year runs until June 20, 2025. Stay tuned for more 50th anniversary stories!
