2Interview
Applicants who are shortlisted will be invited to an interview to evaluate the skills and abilities needed for the paramedic role. The interview will focus on behavior-based questions to explore how your skills and experiences make you the best fit for the job.
3Reference checks & criminal record check
Applicants successful in the interview process will be notified that their references will be contacted. References should be individuals who are able to evaluate the applicant's work, such as a current or previous supervisor. You will also be asked to complete a Criminal Record Check - instructions will be provided. Applicants are responsible for the cost of the criminal record check conducted by the Ministry of Justice.
4Prehire documents
Applicants successful in the interview with positive references will move forward to complete a fitness assessment and be asked to provide station preferences and availability. BCEHS is a provincial service, and the availability of stations changes on a monthly basis. Not all stations may be hiring when it's time for your station placement. If you request to work in larger urban areas, you may experience a delay in your station placement. To help us place you more quickly, we encourage you to consider rural and remote station options.
5Job offer
Applicants who have provided all required pre-requisite documents, passed the fitness assessment, and received a clear Criminal Record Check will be scheduled for a New Employee Orientation Session (NEO). NEO takes place in Vancouver and BCEHS will cover travel and accommodation for those that qualify. Station placement will occur in conjunction with your NEO session and will be facilitated by your assigned TA rep.
Your official offer of employment will be received once you have been placed into a station and prior to your NEO date.
